Neufchatel brie heart, heart shaped cheese

Neufchatel is a French heart shaped brie. This lovely heart cheese is believed to date back to the 6th Century, so a few Centuries younger than St Valentine himself. Legend has it that French farm girls fell in love with English soldiers during the Hundred Years War and started making heart shaped cheeses to show their love! It does come in other shapes, but we like the love around here.. Its a soft, slightly crumbly mould ripened soft cheese originating from the village of Neufchâtel-en-Bray in northern Normandy. Neuf Chatel received AOC status in 1969 and is made with pasteurised cows milk and animal rennet. Reminicent of Camembert, it has a lovely rich mushroomy flavour. Pasteurised and made with traditional rennet.Super cute for a wedding!
