Coeur De Neufchatel Cheese, Heart shaped Brie Cheese

Neuf Chatel heart shaped brie cheese is so cute for a wedding or a cheese gift. A French heart shaped cheese originating from the village of Neufchâtel-en-Bray in northern Normandy. Neuf Chatel received AOC status in 1969 and is made with pasteurised cows milk and animal rennet. Reminiscent of Camembert, it has a lovely rich mushroomy flavour.

Neufchatel can come in a variety of shapes but the heart shaped cheese is why we love it so! Believed to date back to the 6th Century, so a few Centuries younger than St Valentine himself. Legend has it that French farm girls fell in love with English soldiers during the Hundred Years War and started making heart shaped cheeses to show their love!  How romantic, no wonder these are so popular for a wedding cheese cake topper!
